Boston Bob

Age: 8

Trainer: Willie Mullins

Notable Race Wins:-

Navan Novice Hurdle: 2011

Security Solutions Novice Hurdle: 2012

Boston Bob was many people's banker at the 2012 Cheltenham Festival, but the Willie Mullins-trained seven-year-old was just touched off by the ill-fated Brindisi Breeze in a memorable renewal of the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle, but the Co. Carlow inmate will try to bounce back to winning ways in what could be a superb 2012/2013 season.

Early indications have been that Mullins will send him over fences this season and bookmakers have been quick to install him as a leading fancy for the 2013 RSA Chase and he certainly appears to have the scope to become a potential star over the larger obstacles.

He travels serenely through his races and with stamina one of his finest attributes he could well be a leading contender for the Wednesday contest at the 2013 Cheltenham Festival, before a tilt at either the Punchestown Festival or Grand National meeting.

Ruby Walsh's patient tactics will aid his chances at the highest level and Mullins could gently ease him in to the jumping game, so lookout for some of the minor staying novice chasers for Boston Bob to appear and look to use it as a catalyst for another tilt at the Prestbury Park extravaganza.

Form For 2012/2013 Season

  • 16/12/12 - Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase - Navan (1st of 8 - SP 1/5 Fav) - Boston Bob kicked off his chasing career in winning style, but backers of the 1/5 shot were made to sweat as he was forced to battle for a maiden victory over the larger obstacles.  Ruby Walsh had to get strong in saddle as You Must Know Me stalked him right to the finish, but the Irish star managed to win by three-quarters-of-a-length to kickstart an RSA Chase campaign.
